Raindrop Technique

Raindrop Technique is a powerful, non-invasive tool for assisting the body in correcting defects in the curvature of the spine by utilizing the antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory action of essential oils. D. Gary Young developed the Raindrop Technique during the 1980s based on his research with oils as antimicrobial agents, and prompted by things he learned among Lakota Indians in South Dakota. Many years ago, the Lakota Indians moved freely across what is now the American/Canadian border and would go into Canada where they would witness the Aurora Borealis. When the Aurora Borealis was on display, those who were ill would stand facing the lights and hold their hands out toward the lights and inhale deeply. They believed that the air was charged with energy from the Borealis, and so mentally, they would inhale the energy into their spines and then out through the nerve pathways to afflicted areas of their body.

After the borders were closed, and the Lakotas were confined to their reservations, they began to mentally use this process coupled with light finger stroking to facilitate the spreading of energy through the body. Though there is little to substantiate this tradition or its specific efficacy for health, the principle of energy and healing being influenced by similar procedures as well as by essential oils, had long been established and that knowledge served to inspire Gary Young to develop a protocol with the oils in what would become famous as the Raindrop Technique.

Raindrop Technique is further based on the idea, supported by anecdotal evidence and now being substantiated by scientific studies, that many types of scoliosis and spinal misalignments are caused by viruses or bacteria that lie dormant along the spine. These pathogens create inflammation, which contorts the spinal column. During the years that Raindrop Technique has been practiced, it has resolved many situations of scoliosis, kyphosis, and persistent back pain. It has also eliminated the need for back surgery in hundreds of cases.

So what is it, exactly? It is the use of undiluted essential oils applied along the length of the spine, followed by gently massaging the muscles parallel to the vertebral column. Although the treatment itself takes only about 45 minutes, the oils will continue to benefit for up to one week following treatment.

In the case of Raindrop Technique, the use of undiluted essential oils typically causes minor reddening and heat in the tissues. Normally, this is perfectly safe and not something to be overly concerned about. If you do have any concern about how you may react, then you can either apply them individually and monitor your response or have your first Raindrop Technique treatment from someone who is familiar with the technique and able to answer for you what you are experiencing. Should the reddening or heat become uncomfortable, simply apply a few drops of pure vegetable oil to the affected area and this will dilute the oils and provide relief within a couple of minutes. Blondes, redheads, and people whose systems are toxic are more susceptible to this temporary reddening. Note: If any kind of a rash should appear, this is an indication of residual synthetic compounds in the skin. It is recommended that you simply do not apply any petrochemical product to the skin of your back several days prior to treatment. The soap you normally bathe with, should not be an issue.

It is interesting to note that the principle oils used in the Raindrop Technique are among those oils classed by the FDA as safe for internal use. So, it remains one of the safest and most pleasurable tools you can use for promoting spinal health, in addition to overall well being from the benefits of the oils used. From a recent survey of 422 adult patients who had received the Raindrop Technique a total of 14,000 times, all but one said they planned to repeat the treatment.

Raindrop Technique is not a cure-all or a magic bullet. Health is everything we think, believe, say, do, hear, see, and eat. This is only one tool. Additionally, it is important to clarify that when I speak of the positive benefits of this protocol, it is based on the proper use of Young Living essential oils. Most other essential oils available today are cut or modified, meaning that they have other things added or they are altered through the production process.
